Quote of the day

"(Sunday) night was miserable for my team and my coaches and everybody that's involved."

Coach Raheem Morris, on coping with the loss to the Lions

Not much consolation

Mike Pereira, former vice president of officiating for the NFL, analyzes key calls each week for Fox Sports.

This week, Bucs TE Kellen Winslow's controversial offensive pass-interference call in the end zone that negated a touchdown was among the calls Pereira tackled. And he sided with the Bucs, saying the play should have been a no-call. He suggests Lions S C.C. Brown might have been more guilty than Winslow.

What Pereira wrote on foxsports.com:

"This is a tough call that turned out to have a big impact in the outcome. I felt it was incorrect because the defender played into Winslow and, at that point, both were holding on to each other and no advantage was being gained one way or another.

"If anything, it almost seemed like the defender was more responsible since he initiated the contact. In plays like this, I feel it is best not to make a call at all. The Bucs had to settle for a field goal and ended up losing by three points."

This does nothing to make the Bucs feel better. And Winslow was still steaming about the call Monday morning — even after being shown what Pereira wrote.

Zuttah's future

Bucs G/C Jeremy Zuttah has, because of injury, spent most of this season at center, raising the question of whether his future lies there or at guard.

Offensive coordinator Greg Olson thinks he knows the answer.

"He plays both positions very well," Olson said. "I think he's a natural center just (from) looking at him from the way he's played."

Roster move

The Bucs released C Donovan Raiola from the active roster and brought TE Nathan Overbay up from the practice squad. Overbay joined the squad in October after his release from the Dolphins practice squad. Raiola joined the active roster two weeks ago.
