Two women die after car crash in Leicestershire

Two young women have died in a car crash on a Leicestershire road.

The collision happened just before 8pm yesterday on the B585, Garlands Lane, Barlestone.

Police say it involved a white Fiat Scudo panel van, a blue Renault Twingo Dynamique, a blue Ford Focus Zetec and a blue Toyota Rav 4 estate car.

Officers say the driver of the Renault, a woman in her 20s, died at the scene while her passenger, also in her 20s, was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary where she later died.

A second passenger was not hurt.

Two men, aged 36 and 39, were arrested in connection with the incident and remain in police custody.

Police are also trying to trace the driver of the Fiat who left the scene

The driver of the Ford was not injured. The driver in the Toyota received minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment, while a passenger was not injured.
