Former USF strength coach Ronnie McKeefery, who left the Bulls after 11 seasons to take a job with the U.S. Army Special Forces, left that position to become head strength and conditioning coach at Tennessee.

McKeefery was announced Monday, less than three weeks after his final day at USF, a win against Clemson in the Meineke Car Care Bowl.

"I am very excited to be at the University of Tennessee and to work with some of the best student-athletes in America," McKeefery said. "Coach (Derek) Dooley, the staff and administration have the utmost character and integrity."

USF has already hired McKeefery's successor, Mike Golden, who worked with coach Skip Holtz at Connecticut, South Carolina and East Carolina.

In other Tennessee news, starting linebacker Herman Lathers had surgery on his right shoulder and is expected to be limited during spring practices.

Robinson stays at Michigan: Quarterback Denard Robinson said he thought about transferring when the Wolverines fired Rich Rodriguez on Jan. 5, but he will stay at Michigan after talking to his parents, brother and high school coach. "Rich Rod was one of the few coaches that gave me a chance to play as a quarterback on the next level," Robinson said. He said new coach Brady Hoke was "terrific" and that he was eager to learn his offense.

Auburn: Darvin Adams, the Tigers' leading receiver the past two seasons, will skip his senior season to enter the NFL draft. Last season he had 52 catches for 963 yards and seven touchdowns and set an SEC Championship Game record with 217 yards receiving. Emory Blake is the leading returner at receiver, with 33 catches for eight touchdowns in 2010.

Texas: Jerry Gray, a Longhorns defensive back from 1981 to 1984, was named assistant head coach and defensive backs coach. He was a two-time All-American, played seven seasons with the Los Angeles Rams and one with the Houston Oilers and finished his NFL career by playing 14 games with the Bucs in 1993.
