Minister praises Apprenticeship Challenge as 150 posts created in 100 days

THE Mail has helped create more than 150 apprenticeships in just 100 days.
Since launching our Apprenticeship Challenge in February, scores of employers have signed up to take on new staff.
The campaign has won praise from Skills Minister John Hayes, who told the Mail: "By backing apprenticeships, employers in Hull and East Yorkshire have made a sound investment in the prosperity of the city and the future of its young people.
"I congratulate the Mail for running such a successful campaign to deliver more apprenticeships – with extra funding to deliver some 360,000 places this year alone, the Government is on your side."
Our partners were Hull College, East Riding College and the Yorkshire And Humber Apprentice Training Agency (YHATA).
Mail editor John Meehan said: "By recruiting an apprentice during our campaign employers are helping build for the future. That is good news for Hull and East Yorkshire and good news for our economy."
