Reconciliation

Today, Ezra laid out some of the inconsistencies in S&P?s report justifying the debt downgrade, Brad considered some options for cutting postal spending, Sarah explained how health insurance rate review works, and Suzy reported that even modest job creation measures aren?t likely to get passed. Here?s what we missed:

1) ?The downgrade is not about the U.S. debt level ... but about the dysfunctionality of American politics. And the dysfunctionality of American politics is all about the Republican party.?

2) Aaron Lucchetti and Serena Ng of the Wall Street Journal?s 2007 reporting on the rating agencies? culpability in the financial crisis.

3) The size of a country?s entitlements doesn?t say much about its fiscal health.

4) That many poor people own fridges doesn?t mean they?re doing well; it means they?re frugal.

5) Andy Kroll handicaps tomorrow?s Wisconsin special elections.
