White Sox lead Indians, 3-0, through 6

White Sox lead Indians, 3-0, through six innings.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The White Sox led the Indians, 3-0, through six innings tonight at Progressive Field.

Carlos Quentin hit a three-run homer in the fifth off Tribe right-hander Carlos Carrasco.

White Sox righty Gavin Floyd retired the first nine before Ezequiel Carrera led off the fourth with a single up the middle. Carrera was erased on a double-play grounder by Michael Brantley.

The White Sox stranded seven runners through the first three innings.

Juan Pierre led off the White Sox first with a four-pitch walk. Alexei Ramirez walked, bringing up Indians nemesis Paul Konerko. On a 3-1 pitch, Chicago manager Ozzie Guillen started the runners but Konerko flied to right. Pierre and Ramirez were forced to retreat.

Adam Dunn flied to center on a 2-2 pitch, Pierre advancing to third. Carlos Quentin popped to second baseman Jason Kipnis along the right-field line.

The White Sox left two on in the second and the bases loaded in the third. The latter  threat ended when Alex Rios popped the first pitch to left.

Shortstop Ramirez made an excellent play ranging in front of second to throw out Indians leadoff batter Carrera leading off the first.
