TAMPA — Three hours after USF's men's team got its first Big East win, the Bulls women saw their conference frustrations continue, as Marquette ended the game on a 10-2 run and escaped with a 61-55 win in the Sun Dome on Sunday.

The Bulls (9-10, 0-5) led by 12 in the first half and were up 53-51 with 3:30 to play, but the Golden Eagles (15-3, 3-2) went on an 8-0 run, fueled by two 3-pointers by guard Tatiyiana McMorris. Down three, USF's Porche Grant committed an offensive foul away from the ball with 52 seconds left, and McMorris put the game away on the next possession.

"I believe this is the eighth game out of our 10 losses where we led in the second half," coach Jose Fernandez said. "We've got to find a way to make meaningful shots to end runs. We struggled with that. You could see why Marquette's good, why they're 15-3. They've got four seniors that didn't let them lose."

USF got 17 points from guard Andrea Smith, but the Bulls went 2-of-15 on 3-pointers and were outrebounded 49-38. Grant had 13 rebounds and five blocks but scored just four on 2-for-9 shooting. Marquette got 15 points and six assists from McMorris and a double double from Sarina Simmons with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Bulls have another tough one ahead, Saturday at No. 6 West Virginia.
